Patients are seen by appointment only.
- Routine Appointments: We provide 10-minute appointment slots.
- Urgent/ Same day Appointments: If you need to be seen urgently for issues that cannot wait for a normal routine appointment and must be seen that day, a member of our Urgent Care Team will speak with you and allocate a time for you to be seen. As these are for emergency issues only – it will not be possible to negotiate regarding timing and/or which doctor you see. We strive to offer you an appointment with the doctor of your choice within 7 working days and with any doctor within 2 working days, though this can be longer at times of high demand or clinical staff absence. We have a system for “on the day availability” to help us to meet the needs of patients with acute medical problems which are issued by our urgent care team following discussion. Our Nurse Practitioners are also available to see a wide range of conditions and can offer advice and treatment as required. They are qualified prescribers so can issue prescriptions, too.
- Please note that as of 21 November 2016 ALL requests for urgent/on the day appointments will be handled by our Urgent Care Team. Patients should be ready to provide call handling staff with brief details of their needs in order for the team to attach the appropriate priority to the call. A member of the team will then call the patient back. We believe this will deliver better care to those in urgent need while still allowing patients the choice of booking more routine appointments in advance.
Although you are free to consult with any doctor, it is normally best to stay with the same doctor for the duration of any problem to ensure continuity of care.
In addition please note that:
Separate appointments should be made if more than one person needs to be seen
An adult should accompany children under the age of 14.
If you think your problem will require more time than 10 minutes, please tell the receptionist and you can book a longer appointment.
If you are unable to keep an appointment, please let us know as soon as possible so that the appointment can be reallocated.
Repeatedly missing appointments may mean that you will be asked to leave the practice list.
NB: Appointment schedules are liable to change at short notice depending on doctor availability.
Speaking to a GP by Telephone
Most of the doctors are available after their morning surgeries to speak to patients regarding results or general advice. Please try to stay with the same doctor for any ongoing problems, and be aware that doctors will call you back within two working days. If that GP is not available or your query is urgent, you will be passed to the Duty GP who is available every morning from 08:00 – 10:00 for advice. The reception staff will be happy to advise you of the appropriate times to call.
